☕ COMMUNITY WORDPLAY · ELLESMERE PORT & SURROUNDING AREAS
Bring your words. Find your people. Build something together.
Write, read, listen, sign, sing, perform or make it up as you go. First-timer or old hand, there’s a place for you here. Stories, poems, jokes, lyrics, rap, scripts, drama, improv and creative communication all belong.
I’m interestedNo pressure to write, read, speak or perform. Just you, as you are.
Port Poet 2027 is coming soon → Entries are not open yet.

ROOM FOR YOU, AS YOU ARE
We hold space with care: respect names and pronouns, listen without judgement, and ask before offering feedback. Discrimination, harassment and unwanted filming have no place here. You can pass, pause or take a break.
Tell us what would help you join in. We’ll discuss access needs with you and confirm what can be provided for each session.
LET’S SHAPE IT TOGETHER
We’re gathering interest for community sessions in Ellesmere Port and the surrounding area. Dates, venues, costs and venue access details will be confirmed before booking opens. This is an interest list, not a ticket.
YOUR WORDS. YOUR WAY.
Interested in sessions or Port Poet 2027? Leave a contact address below. No experience is needed.
These separate forms ask about interests, access, contact and equal opportunities in small steps.
Interests help us shape sessions. Contact details are a separate choice. The equal opportunities form is stored separately without your name or contact details.
No login is needed. Return using the same browser and website address. Drafts don’t sync to other devices. Anyone using this browser may see them; switch saving off on a shared device. Your browser may clear them.
WordBrew is organised by Shakes through Let’s Create. Your interest answers help plan sessions; your contact and emergency information helps the organiser communicate with you and respond during sessions. Equal opportunities answers help us understand who our spaces are reaching. These three records are stored separately; the equal opportunities record has no name, contact details or link to either other form.
All questions are optional, with “rather not say” choices. Please don’t include diagnoses or full addresses. Access, dietary and equality information is used only with your agreement. Unfinished drafts are saved on your own browser and device while remembering is on; they are not sent to WordBrew. Clear them or turn remembering off at any time. After you submit, your answers are held in the site’s private database, accessible to the authorised organiser, not other visitors. We don’t add advertising trackers.
Records expire after 180 days and are removed when a form is submitted or the organiser opens the list. Each confirmation gives you a private deletion link. Keep it, or Email WordBrew to ask about your data or withdraw. Emergency details are optional at this interest stage; we may ask you to update them before a session. Don’t enter another person’s details unless you have told them and they agree.
FROM A CAFÉ TABLE TO THE COMMUNITY
WordBrew was hosted at Café 71 by Gary.
Now Shakes is taking that spirit out into the community: friendly prompts, room to explore, and the excellent creative fuel of biscuits and beverages.
The idea is beautifully simple. People come together around words. Some write. Some read. Some listen. Someone might discover a character, a joke, a rhythm or a whole new way to be heard.
We’re keeping the warmth and making room for more: comedy, stories, poetry, drama, improvisation, signing and singing. No literary secret handshake required. A biscuit will do.

COMING SOON · ELLESMERE PORT
WordBrew is preparing an inaugural poetry competition. The plan is a £100 first prize and the title Port Poet 2027 for 12 months. Pay what you can, including free participation; optional contributions would help fund the prize.
The prize funding, judges, full rules, dates and accessible entry routes are still being confirmed. We are aiming to crown the first Port Poet around late December 2026 or early January 2027. Join the interest list to hear when the arrangements are ready. Joining the list is not an entry.
